Morsel Corpse

The main protagonist in the Fifth Gate series of books.

Morsel is an orphan born in an underperforming mining colony called Alpha Laden. He lives by scavenging and stealing in the dingy slums of Underladen, the poorest layer of Alpha Laden.

A weak, undernourished teenager, Morsel almost dies when the local gang turns on him, but it is at the point of death when his fortunes turn.

Possessed by a creature from the Daaniemic race, Morsel inherits incredible powers and goes on a killing spree, exacting revenge on the gang that killed him.

But the Daaniem's return to the world of the living has not gone unnoticed. As Morsel hunts down his enemies, the enemies of Belfur, the Daaniem who possessed him, are hunting him.
